Main Generation / Essential Services

Tailor-made packages are available for base load duty, typically suitable for platforms where the load demands are below 1 mWe, and also to support essential services in the event of main power generation shut downs.

Units can be supplied with either diesel or gas powered prime movers.

Equipment is available in open form for installation in platform modules or alternatively in packaged enclosures, complete with lighting, services and fire protection if required.

Control Systems include single running, parallel operation and mutual standby.

Emergency Power

Highly sophisticated packages designed to be used as the emergency back-up to the main generation, sometimes with other duties including emergency power for fire pump applications.

These packages are required to start and accept load under all circumstances and are fitted with special conditioning equipment and multiple starting systems.

Diesel or Gas Powered

Emergency Generators are normally diesel powered. However, for other applications diesel may not be the only consideration.
The choice of fuel is dependant on a number of factors. Sometimes it is the availability of good quality gas on the platform or it could be associated with accessibility and cost of the delivery of fuel.

Manned or Unmanned Installation or simply customer preference also have a bearing on the final choice of fuel.

Unmanned Platform Applications

Tilsley & Lovatt Ltd. are acknowledged as a market leader in the manufacture of Generators for Unmanned Platforms.

These machines are highly specialised and are designed specifically for the application.

To be cost effective they have to operate reliably for up to 2000 hours between services under all local climatic conditions.

Special features are incorporated to enable this reliability and durability to be achieved.

IP56 and A60 Enclosures

For long term asset protection and reliable performance, the operating environment is a critical feature in the design of any power generation plant.

This needs to be achieved by good engineering practice and the use of standard components where possible, taking account of accessibility and maintainability.

Tilsley & Lovatt Ltd. have perfected a design for machines housed in stainless steel enclosures, which meets this brief and has been well tried and tested in the field.

Variants on these designs are available, which are A60 rated and incorporate all the necessary fire protection and ancillary systems.
